ISA of new railway Diesel Engine

Netherlands (2021-2024)

Stadler and Arriva Nederland have signed a contract to refit ETCS Guardia on 36 FLIRT trains. The fleet consists of 36 trains, eight of which are operated on the international train line RE18 in Limburg, the Netherlands.

Function: Safety Manager for the integration of ETCS and Class B systems on the vehicle.

Tasks: Safety Plan, Hazard Analysis (inc. FMEA, FTAs and Common Cause Failure Analysis), Hazard Log, Safety Case and Common Safety Method Report. Interface NoBo and ISA/AsBo.

New diagnostics trains

Spain (2021-2024)

The Spanish infrastructure manager awarded a joint venture of Stadler and MerMec a €74.4 million contract for the supply, equipment and certification of three new diagnostics trains, and five years maintenance. These trains are to be equipped with ETCS from AngelStar supplier.

Function: Validator

Tasks: Validate the integration of GUARDIA ETCS and Class B (ASFA) system on board. Review of Integration Requirements, Review of Verification process, creation of the Validation Plan and the Validation Report.

ISA of Battery Management System

Switzerland (2020)

A client intends to design a new Battery Management System with SIL4 capabilities based on a diverse redundant architecture and seeks a preliminary safety assessment of the concept and architecture against the 5012x standards.

Function: Independent Safety Assessor

Tasks: Review the safety concept and architecture according to EN 50126 and EN 50129. Main safety functions were the control of over-temperature and over-voltage.

ISA of new Diesel Engine for railway applications

A well-known engine manufacturer is developing a new diesel engine for railway vehicles. The new engine ECU requires an independent safety assessment according to EN50126, EN50128 and EN50129 standards.

Function: Project Manager & Lead Assessor

Tasks: Safety Assessment, Project Management, review safety documentation and preparation of ISA Report.

ISA of a new Odometer with SIL4 capabilities

Switzerland (2019)

A client intends to design a new Odometer with SIL4 capabilities based on a diverse redundant architecture and seeks a preliminary safety assessment of the concept and architecture against the EN50126, EN50128 and EN50129 standards.

Function: Independent Safety Assessor

Tasks: Review the safety concept and architecture according to EN 50126, EN 50128 and EN 50129.

Shanghai Metro Line 14

China (2018-2019)

A prominent rolling stock manufacturer has been awarded a contract to develop and produce the TCMS system for the new metro coaches destined for Line 14 in Shanghai. Our team provided support to the client in overseeing the RAMS aspects of this project, including the adequate application of the standards EN50126, EN50128 and EN50129.

Function: Project Manager & RAMS Consultant

Tasks: Project management, definition of the RAMS strategy/plan, apportionment of RAMS targets, preparation of Hazard Log, FMEA, FTA, Safety Case, RAM demonstration Plan, etc.
